Certified Medical Assistant
Priority Health Care is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. The Certified Medical Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support to physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers while delivering high-quality patient care in a professional and compassionate manner.
The ideal person for this role is a strong communicator, compassionate, organized, adaptable, and detail oriented. This vital team member greets patients, supports clinical operations, maintains accurate medical records, and upholds patient confidentiality at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Patient Care Support – Prepare patients for examination, obtain and document vital signs, collect and update medical histories, reconcile medications, and ensure patient records are accurate and complete. Assist providers with examinations and procedures and educate patients on treatment plans as directed by the provider.
- Perform Clinical Procedures – Administer injections, immunizations, specimen collection, basic wound care, and other approved clinical procedures in accordance with organizational policies, state regulations, and provider orders.
- Other Duties – Answer phones, schedule appointments, take messages, greet patients, coordinate referrals, and provide patient education regarding preventive care, treatment instructions, and health maintenance as directed by the provider. Support physicians and clinical staff during procedures and medical emergencies. Maintain compliance with organizational policies, HIPAA requirements, and professional standards.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential or equivalent certification preferred or required, as applicable
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Previous clinical experience in a physician practice, community health center, or outpatient setting preferred
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and standard office software preferred
