Pediatric Medical Assistant
Priority Health Care is seeking a compassionate Pediatric Medical Assistant to support our pediatric clinical team and enhance the healthcare experience for children and families.
In this role, you'll prepare pediatric patients for examinations using age-appropriate techniques, assist with vital signs and immunizations, and maintain a calm, welcoming environment for children. Your ability to connect with young patients and understanding of child development are essential to our mission of providing accessible, quality healthcare.
Responsibilities:
- Greet pediatric patients and families; create a welcoming, anxiety-reducing environment
- Obtain and record vital signs for pediatric patients using age-appropriate techniques and equipment
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist with immunizations and minor procedures
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize instruments according to clinical protocols
- Document patient information and clinical notes accurately in the EHR system
- Screen patients for developmental milestones and social determinants of health as directed
- Schedule appointments and handle confirmations and reschedules
- Collect copayments and insurance information; screen families for financial assistance programs
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
- Support the clinical team with administrative and clinical tasks
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA—Certified Medical Assistant, or RMA—Registered Medical Assistant) preferred, or commitment to obtain within 12 months
- 1+ years of pediatric or clinical healthcare experience preferred
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate communication
- Proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification for Healthcare Providers required
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with children and diverse families
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual ability in Spanish or Vietnamese is a plus
